Zohran Mamdani net worth: How rich is New York's youngest and first Muslim mayor? He is married to Syrian-American illustrator and artist Rama Duwaji. By Mamta Naik Nov. 6, 2025 > Culture In case you didn't know, Zohran Mamdani has made history as the 11th mayor of New York City, securing a landmark victory that has resonated both across the United States and around the world.

At just 34, he's the youngest person in a century to hold the city's highest office. Zohran's election is also groundbreaking — he is New York's first Muslim mayor and the first person of Indian origin to lead the iconic metropolis known as the Big Apple. For the uninitiated, Mamdani received more than 50% of the vote, outperforming former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who secured about 41%, and Republican contender Curtis Sliwa, who trailed with roughly 7%. After winning the New York City mayoral election, Zohran quoted former Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in his victory speech, saying, "A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance."
