- Responsible for the design, layout, and coding of a website. Involved with the technical and graphical aspects of a website - how the site works and how it looks.
- Understand the business requirements, client brief, discuss ideas to get a clear understanding of their requirements for the required website
- Implement the required analysis to start the work on the website
- Write the programming code, either from scratch or by adapting existing website software and graphics packages to meet business requirements
- Test the website and identify any technical problems
- Coordinate with writers, designers, system administrators and any other staff to ensure the website will fulfill its purpose
- Upload the site onto a server and register it with different search engines.
- Manage the technical aspects of the website hosting and security
- Maintain or update the website once it is completed by adding new content, illustrations or features
- Coordinate other people, such as designers and writers, to help maintain the website.
