Nothing speaks louder than a designer paying tribute to its roots through their work. For designer Arwa Al-Banawi it has been a proud moment as she was able to mould her style into the international sports brand –Adidas.

Arwa Al-Banawi, a Saudi-based designer is the talent behind the new Adidas Forum ’84 Low collection who has redesigned the brand’s iconic sneakers. Through her creativity, she is set to modernize and honour the classic and timeless pieces of the German shoe brand.

It is not the first time Arwa Al-Banawi has established herself as one of the most creative designers of her generation. She has quickly become one of Saudi Arabia’s most recognized designers, bringing a style and sensibility with her brand.

Though the young designer’s works have mostly focused on women-centric pieces blending traditional tailoring and a Middle Eastern sensibility with contemporary streetwear aesthetics, for Arwa collaborating with Adidas has been a big feat and to launch the –Arwa Al Banawi Forum Lo sneaker.

The new revamping of the sneaker speaks of her Middle Eastern roots which pay homage to Shemagh –a traditional piece of clothing worn all across the Middle East.

The shoe’s heel will reflect the counter’s red houndstooth – a pattern near signature with the headscarf itself. The overall desert pastel colour of the shoes will bring out the pattern’s striking beauty, thus giving it a signature Middle Eastern look.

With the help of the design and her work, Arwa aims to send a message to the world about the region and the need for a sustainable future.
