Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi is all set to make history again.

 

Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi will soon become the first Arab to perform a spacewalk.

The Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan announced this new milestone for the UAE in space via Twitter on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

“Inspired by Zayed’s ambitions, today our ambassador to space Sultan Al Neyadi,” Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum through Twitter wrote, “is preparing for the first spacewalk by an Arab astronaut” on 28 April 2023.

The Crown Prince also added that this milestone will make the United Arab Emirates the “10th country” to perform “Extravehicular Activity (EVA) on the ISS.”

With this new feat, the United Arab Emirates will become the 10th country to conduct a spacewalk.

The Emirati astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi will be the first-ever Arab to walk in space on April 28, 2023.

To celebrate this incredible new milestone, the 41-year-old astronaut wrote on his official Twitter account that he will be the “first Arab astronaut to undertake a spacewalk” alongside NASA astronaut Stephen Bowen. The astronaut added it is a great “honour and responsibility.”

The astronaut also wrote that he is “eagerly awaiting this historic moment”, for which he have trained extensively at the Johnson Space Center. He Tweeted that he is “looking forward to represent my country” and continuing the exceptional journey that was started by generations of astronauts before him.

As per The National News, Sultan Al Neyadi will float outside of the International Space Station for more than six hours with Stephen Bowen on April 28, 2023.

The two NASA SpaceX Crew-6 members will venture out of ISS to replace the communication hardware that is installed on the outside of the orbiting science laboratory.
