BBC Held Most Of The Top 10 Most Watched Programs For Christmas Day!

The Queen's Christmas Broadcast was the most watched programme on Christmas Day with 7.6 million viewers followed by BBC One's Mrs Brown's Boys, according to the first over night figures.

The annual Queen's speech drew the largest viewing audience for the day, with it being broadcast across BBC One, ITV and Sky News, meaning that the BBC held most of the top 10 most watched programmes for the day.

Comedy Mrs Brown's Boys draw the largest stand alone audience with 6.8 million, while third and forth were Strictly Come Dancing with 6.5 million and Call the Midwife with 6.3 viewers tuning in respectively.

Eastenders drew 6.3 million while the final appearance of Peter Capaldi as The Doctor and the first reveal of his successor, Jodie Whittaker saw Doctor Who land sixth in the ratings with 5.7 million viewers, which was followed by

Meanwhile, ITV's best performance came with its long running soap opera, Coronation Street, which ranked seventh with 4.8 million viewers. This rose to 5.1 million with the inclusion of ITV+1 figures.

The other series to make it to the top 10 of the highest rated programmes on Christmas were BBC Teatime News (4.2 million), The Highway Rat (4 million), and the recent Disney remake of Cindrella 3.6 million).

Channel 4 scored 2.8 million views but this was not enough to make it into the 10 most watched programmes of the day.
