Dubai crown Prince praises the team behind UAE’s Moon rover as it clears final tests for the historic mission

The UAE’s Rashid Rover has completed the final testing phase.

The Moon rover is all set for the historic mission as it has cleared all the tests and has pushed the mission one step closer to its launch in outer space.

UAE’s Moon rover Rashid will blast off on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Florida.

The 10-kg robotic explorer has been built in the UAE by Emirati engineers as a part of the Emirates Lunar Mission with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC).

On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) announced that the Emirates Lunar Mission’s team has completed tests on Rashid Rover. Sharing the images on their official Twitter account, they wrote, “The Emirates Lunar Mission's team completed the environmental tests on the flight model of the Rashid Rover including thermal vacuum test alongside vibration and shock test, confirming the readiness of the rover for the first Emirati mission to the surface of the Moon.”

The Dubai crown Prince has congratulated the team of engineers at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and praised their efforts.

Sheikh Hamadan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, said in a tweet that the final testing of UAE’s Rashid Rover has now been completed.

“We thank the team at Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) for their efforts in developing the Rashid Rover, the UAE’s first mission to the Moon.,” he wrote.

“The rover has officially cleared all required tests, bringing the first Arab mission to the lunar surface one step closer. Our next stop: the Moon,” the Dubai Crown Prince continued.

The lunar lander M1 which will land the Rashid rover on the lunar surface will take off on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida, and has a target window of November 9-15.
