Truly captivating art can leave people speechless and drown out noise or distractions in the background, but can it actually deliver a silent space in the middle of bustling cities? Technology hasn't simply amplified artists through digital media, but innovation including AI has also allowed them to know how audiences will react to their work.

Art has been used for enhancing the aesthetic appeal of living rooms and offices for ages, and digital art has managed to combine sights with sounds to create an immersive experience. Coupling a different approach to the impact of art with some innovation, has enabled a Dubai-based firm to create art which can shut out unwanted noise.

The paintings by Mute use an acoustic transparent canvas as the base, which allows the artwork to absorb sound waves which hit its surface. These waves are then sent to an acoustic core, where they are reduced to micro-vibrations to get rid of all disturbances.

Although the company prints any image on the canvas as per the client's demands depending on the environment, it has also roped in local artists and photographers to support their work. The firm which simply replaces the canvas if the client needs a fresh look, is now fortifying homes and offices further, with soundproof walls.

The innovation achieves both peace and sustainability at the same time, by using a porous fabric made out of recycled plastic bottles to keep sound out of a room. Products like Mute curtains and seals are also in the works, with a promise to protect private spaces against outside commotions and the noise of traffic.

Established by a Scandinavian woman in the Emirati tech oasis, Mute is also using devices to measure the time taken for specific sounds to fade away.

The offering is similar to technology being developed in the region for Hyundai, where noise is shut away from the interiors of cars by pitching sound waves against each other.
