As the season of sports is about to begin, Dubai Sports Council plans to amplify its sports sector by giving a boost to snow sports.

The Dubai Sports Council, this year plans to introduce new games in the snow sports section as it adopts the coming season’s program for snow sports with more than 10 events.

The 10 sporting events are scheduled to take place at Ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates that will have three unique new events this year. The council has introduced a snow volleyball tournament, snow yoga, and a fixed-wheel snow cycling championship as a part of the tournament.

The snow volleyball tournament will make Dubai the first city in Asia and the Middle East to host such an event, while snow yoga will be an inimitable experience for participants alongside a fixed-wheel cycling championship.

Apart from introducing these three snow sports to the segment, Ski Dubai is also set to host a number of other national and international tournaments like the UAE Alpine Ski Championship, UAE National Ski and Snowboard Freestyle Championship, and the 12th edition of Ice Warrior Challenge, which is one of the favorite events of the country’s obstacle-challenge enthusiasts.

With the introduction of three new snow sports, Dubai Sports Council plans to strengthen Dubai’s reputation as one of the region’s top supporters of snow sports and a premier destination for snow sports enthusiasts.

Not just that, Dubai also boasts of six snow sports academies that have over 700 members training under qualified international instructors. One of the academies is operated by the Austrian CEO of Vienna-based Snowsports Academy Martin Dolezal, who visited Dubai Sports Council earlier this week to discuss further cooperation. He met His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, and Nasser Aman Al Rahma, Assistant Secretary-General of the Council and Ali Omar Al Balooshi, Director of the Council’s Sports Development department, and Mohammed El Etri, Vice President of Majid Al Futtaim Leisure and Entertainment, and Ibrahim Khadim of UAE Skiers Academy to boost the region’s snow sporting events and tournaments.

The Dubai Sports Council aims to boost snow sports as it continues to support the spread of snow sports in Dubai and the country and provide all the necessary means for its growth and development.
