Bringing hologram technology in Dubai, the ‘Dubai Hologram Universe’ is being launched at the Al Habtoor City Theatre on January 30.

Innovative and creative technology is slowly taking over the world one of them has taken the art world by storm is—hologram technology which is coming back to Dubai with a concert featuring legendary Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez.

Last year in May, Emiratis got a chance to witness the great singer at the Dubai Opera through the same technology and ever since it has become a favourite in the region.

To take the liking of hologram technology forward, ‘Dubai Hologram Universe’ is being launched at the Al Habtoor City Theatre which will have a show dedicated toward the late artist on January 30.

A joint venture by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) in collaboration with New Dimension Productions (NDP), ‘Dubai Hologram Universe’ will feature state-of-the-art hologram concerts by legendary singers and musicians twice a week at the Al Habtoor City venue.

To give a glimpse of how the hologram concert takes place, a media event also took place earlier this week wherein guests witnessed a hologram of Hafez – who died in 1977 aged just 47 along with living musicians performing behind Hafez.

Through the concert, Hafez’s hologram figure was projected with body movements and facial expressions, a group of dancers joined the show for an immersive visual experience.

The Abdel Halim Hafez Hologram event last year paid a remarkable tribute to the star and the impact he had on the region. With the very use of hologram technology and artificial intelligence, the audiences watched Abdel Halim Hafez on the stage—a high-resolution 3D model that matches the artist’s face and body.

While that was the first time Dubai witnessed something like it, with Dubai Hologram Universe, it is going to be the world’s first regular hologram series to focus on immersive digital entertainment.

The Abdel Halim concert will be the foundation of the new concept’s series, which will also have gigs featuring the Diva Umm Kulthum, Warda Al-Jazairia, Frank Sinatra, among others in the coming times.
