Dubai to launch the world’s first hydrogen-powered flying boat ‘The Jet’

Called ‘The Jet ZeroEmission’, the new invention which is set to be manufactured and launched in Dubai is going to be an eco-friendly vessel.

With all the new technologies and advancements, Dubai has been doing, another innovation that the country is tapping on is on the world’s first hydrogen-powered flying boat.

Called ‘The Jet ZeroEmission’, the new invention which is set to be manufactured and launched in Dubai is going to be an eco-friendly vessel that makes no waves, zero noise, and appears to ‘fly’ 80cm above the water at a speed of 35-40 knots.

First-of its kind boat, a Swiss-based start-up THE JET ZeroEmission has signed an agreement with UAE-based Zenith Marine Services and DWYN to manufacture and operate The Jet.

Created by L’Hydroptère, the futuristic-looking boat will feature cutting-edge characteristics and technologies and can carry up to 12 passengers at a time and is said to cruise without noise over the waters at a speed of 40 knots.

The environmentally-friendly technology is equipped with two fuel cells, an air conditioner and other environmentally approachable technologies that help reduce carbon emissions.

Talking about the new launch, Alain Thébault, Founder of THE JET ZeroEmission, shared, “Dubai is an ideal destination for innovators and companies from around the world to develop their innovative projects and reach their desired success, which is why we have announced ‘The Jet’, a project that I had the privilege of conceiving with the team.”

The new project is a part of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and aims to produce 75 per cent of its energy requirements from clean sources by 2050, making Dubai a global centre of clean energy and a green economy.
