Mashable: The mystery behind the temporary closure still remains unsolved

Ain Dubai also known as the Dubai Eye is the tallest and largest Ferris wheel in the world.

Dubai, home to the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa welcomed the massive Ferris wheel almost two years ago.

The much-talked-about Ferris wheel in the world, Ain Dubai was introduced in the United Arab Emirates commercial and leisure hub, Dubai to attract more international tourists.

However, Dubai Eye which was designed as a major tourist landmark in the Emirates mysteriously stopped turning just months after its grandiose opening.

Ain Dubai, previously known as the Dubai Eye is located on Bluewaters Island, near the Dubai Marina in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The skyscraper-studded skyline of Dubai became home to the Ferris wheel, which is the tallest and largest observation wheel in the world.

Now Ain Dubai stands idle with reportedly the extravagant light fixtures of the huge Ferris wheel being the only parts still working.

The Ferris wheel which was designed to carry up to 1,750 passengers reportedly opened in October 2021. The gigantic observation wheel consists of 48 cabins and was put up to provide beautiful views of Dubai Marina including Dubai landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, and more.

However, Dubai’s Ferris wheel has not been operational since just months after its opening reportedly since March 2022.

The official website of Ain Dubai currently reads that the Ferris wheel will remain closed until “further notice” as they continue to “rigorously work on completing the enhancement works” that have taken place for the past months.

The website also reads that a further announcement will be made once a reopening date is set. The operations of the Ferris wheel are still closed for undisclosed reasons.

According to Dubai’s tourism department, the Ain Dubai stands at a height of 250 meters (825 feet). The Dubai Eye is nearly twice as tall as the London Eye.
