Mashable: He was awarded for his bravery!
It's rare to find a hero every day, but when we do, they must be cherished. It applies to Dubai's firefighter, whose valour and courage helped save the lives of 24 people!
According to The National, Dubai Civil Defence's first corporal Ghadeer Al Kaabi noticed flames engulfing a house in Bur Dubai. After alerting the command room, he ventured into the premise to look after the safety of the people.
By the time he had arrived, the fire quickly consumed two cars, a tent and the villa's annexe. However, he could not see any people moving within the residence. Even the main gate was shut.
But soon he realised that the family was unaware of the fire. Al Kaabi came to their rescue and evacuated them gradually, and looked after the resident who was injured. He took care of them until fire trucks and ambulances arrived there.
“What I did was my professional and humanitarian duty as a fireman," says Al Kaabi to The National. "The department ensures we are well trained to be ready for emergencies.”
So far, the Dubai Police have not revealed when the incident or the rescue occurred.
The police, however, recognised the heroism of Al Kaabi during a ceremony, where many senior officers were present.
“Al Kaabi is a hero as he did not hesitate to deal with the fire and rescue people's lives," said, Major General Khalil Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief of the criminal investigations affairs. "He took the risk and went inside despite the flames and smoke."
