'Justice' is based on real-life cases from Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.

Abu Dhabi-produced drama Justice will air on pay-TV platform OSN following a deal between the parties.

OSN has struck a deal with distributor IM Global Television for the Middle Eastern premiere rights of the legal and family drama Qalb Al Adala (Justice), thought to be the most expensive Emirati TV production ever staged.

Justice was produced by Abu Dhabi film studio Image Nation and Beelink Productions, with Oscar nominee Walter Parkes and Emmy Award® winning producer, William Finkelstein revealed as the show’s creators.

Justice is directed by Ahmed Khaled, and stars Fatima Al Taei, Mansoor Al Feeli, Mohamed Alamiri, and Malak Al Khalidi. While Marc Lorber, Safa Aburizik and Mohammed Mashish serve as executive producers. Image Nation CEO Michael Garin claimed last year it was the most expensive Emirati production ever to be created - though he declined to reveal figures.

The show is based on real-life cases from the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, which partnered on the production for authenticity, the parties claimed.

Dr Salah Khamis Al Junaibi, director of corporate communication and international cooperation at Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said: “The participation of the judicial department in the production of Justice was to educate UAE audiences about the legal system and spread awareness about our efforts through non-traditional avenues.

“We are hoping to teach our rules and regulations through a simple method that will reach all walks of life in the UAE and contribute to the effective consolidation of social security in Abu Dhabi.”

The drama, which is set in Arabic and shot in Abu Dhabi, focuses on Farah, an ambitious and passionate young lawyer who has just returned home after having attained a law degree in the US.

Farah’s father is one of the UAE’s top lawyers, and has big ambitions for his daughter’s career at his prestigious firm. Farah, however, has other plans. She is determined to succeed on her own, and does so while pushing the legal and cultural envelope in the process.

Last year, Michael Garin told Arabian Business that some of the graduates from Image Nation’s film school had worked on the production of the courtroom drama.

He described Justice as “LA Law meets Dallas in Abu Dhabi”, and a “unique opportunity to see how everyday Arabs live their lives [and] how the court system works”.

Eli Shibley, IM Global Television’s president of international distribution and co-productions, said: “This creative partnership between Image Nation, Beelink, Walter, and William is the first of its kind in the region, which sets the bar for local drama and production value in the Middle East.”
