Fake News was deemed by Collins as its the word of the year and in following suit, this year’s Digital Podge Lunch will turn the term on its wispy-haired head with a Trump inspired game called ‘Fact or Fake News’ for attendees to play along to.
Poking fun at the strange new world marketers now live in, the aim of the game will be to guess fact from fiction about some of those attending the lunch this year through an app developed, in partnership with Blippar.
To play, the user needs to scan another attendee’s lanyard and learn a possible fact or a possible fiction about them. On the day, there will be a Fact or Fiction leader board where attendees can use the app to vote on whether the fact their peers have revealed about themselves is true or not. One attendee in the room will ultimately reign supreme at separating the truth with a twist from the twisted, scary reality.
To allow those not attending to play along (see below), The Drum has selected its own top 10 ‘podgers’ whose facts users will be allowed to guess are true or not. From today (Thursday 30 December) users can guess whether the pieces of personal insight presented by these 10 people are fact or #fakenews.
Run by industry legend, Phil Jones, Digital Podge Lunches have been an annual tradition since 1994. They aim to bring together leaders in the design, digital, sports and music industries to celebrate a love for the craft and to share and compare ideas. Everyone who comes along does so to meet old friends, make new ones and bask in a wealth of knowledge exchange.
