In a welcoming move, Egypt aims to promote yacht tourism

Apart from the rich historical background that Egypt boasts of, the country is also famous for its water sports nestled in the ancient background.

With the COVID-19 pandemic putting a halt to tourism, the country had to bear the blunt like many other tourism countries in the world. However, now with flights in operation, the country aims to bounce back as it heavily relies on tourism for its economic development.

Not just the ancient monuments, museums and pyramids attract tourists, yacht tourism has also been one of the attractions for travellers in the region. Thus, to boost yacht tourism in Egypt, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Enani held a preliminary meeting to follow up on the efforts that have been taken to uplift water tourism.

In a meeting with his deputies and advisers to discuss how to remove any obstacles that hinder the promotion of yacht tourism, the team reviewed the efforts exerted to promote yacht tourism.

The move comes under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli to draw up a strategic plan to develop yacht tourism including providing infrastructure to manufacture boats and logistics.

With Egypt’s beaches extending along the coasts of the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, it makes an attractive spot for yacht tourism. The Mediterranean Sea is considered an important centre for yacht tourism in the world, where more than 30,000 yachts annually roamed the area.

The fairly new kind of tourism represents a new kind of sports tourism in Egypt and is considered one of the richest kinds of tourism many do sailing for recreational activities and therefore great economic revenue benefitting Egyptian tourism.
