ABU DHABI, 16th November, 2016 (WAM) -- International Media Investments FZ LLC., IMI, has acquired ownership of The National, a daily English language newspaper in the UAE, which has been owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Media Company, ADM.
Since its inception in 2008, The National has brought new standards of reporting and analysis to the UAE and the region, and has acted as a unique global English language portal for information about, and perspectives from, the Middle East.
The 21st Century media landscape, dominated by digital platforms, especially mobile, offers new opportunities for The National to develop and extend its voice, whilst maintaining a robust presence as a traditional print asset.
The National will remain at ADM until arrangements for the transfer of its operations to the new management and new premises are concluded. IMI thanked ADM for the continuing development and stewardship of a brand that has made a substantial contribution to media reporting and analysis in the UAE and region.
ADM expressed confidence that the new owner of The National would continue developing and investing in its distinctive voice in an increasingly exciting and challenging digital age.
IMI is a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Media Investment Corporation, ADMIC, a private investment company behind such ventures as the collaboration with Sky PLC to launch Sky News Arabia.
