Miss Universe 2024: Bahrain’s Shereen Ahmed wins special award for being the voice for single mothers

Mashable: Hearty congratulations to Shereen Ahmed for winning the Voice for Change 2024, a first major accolade for Bahrain in the Miss Universe pageant. The 29-year-old model was honoured with the Silver award for her work with Hope Amel Bahrain, which works towards providing support to single mothers.

After winning the achievement, Shereen took to Instagram to express her gratitude and explain how being the voice for single mothers holds a deep significance in her life. “My mother’s journey, raising me as a single mom, is a testament to the strength and sacrifices these women make every day. I’ve seen the struggles single mothers face and the incredible courage they embody,” she wrote.

The model continued, “My journey with Hope Amel UAE, guided by the inspiring Abbie Kadom, and my own platform Hope Amal Bahrain have allowed me to stand beside these incredible women. Now, as I step onto a bigger stage with the Voice For Change, I am grateful for the opportunity to amplify their stories and advocate for their rights and needs.”

In a subsequent post, she also reflected on her Miss Universe 2024 journey expressing, “Tonight marks the end of my Miss Universe chapter, but this was about so much more than just a moment on stage. My goal was to push myself beyond limits, serve my communities, and honor those who have supported me along the way. Grateful for every experience, every lesson, and every connection made. This is only the beginning.”

In a ceremony held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, 21-year-old Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark was crowned the 73rd Miss Universe.
