Snapchat has responded to the 1.2 million people who put their name to a Change.org petition calling for the app to reverse its controversial redesign promising changes.

The new look separates content from publishers and users’ friends and families with Stories, messages, Snaps and videos from the latter shown in an algorithmically-sorted feed, much to the distain of Snapchat fans.

“We hear you, and appreciate that you took the time to let us know how you feel,” the US company posted. “We completely understand the new Snapchat has felt uncomfortable for many. By putting everything from your friends in one place, out goal was to make it easier to connect with the people you care about most.

“The new Friends page will adapt to you an get smarter over time, reflecting who you’re most likely to be Snapping with at that moment.”

Responding to criticism, Snap Inc has promised changes in the coming weeks beginning on iOS with the introduction of tabs which, according to Snap, “will make it easier to find the Stories that you want, when you want them.”

The update will allow users sort Stories, group chats and subscriptions in a move Snapchat hopes will “further customise your own experience on the app.”

Earlier this week, Kylie Jenner and Maybelline both posted negative sentiment about the new look Snapchat with Jenner’s comments attributed to a decline in the market value of Snap Inc.
