Sharjah 24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre (SMC), on Monday, launched the English version of Sharjah 24 website, on the second day of GITEX 2016, to deliver news from the emirate of Sharjah to the whole world.

During the launch ceremony, Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed pointed out that the English version of Sharjah 24 will contribute to transmitting the events and achievements witnessed by the UAE, especially with the decline of printing press and today's focus on e-media, which transmit events, instantaneously, and in no time.

He stressed that the today’s world has become one village in light of the subsequent events happening nowadays, thanks to the Internet, which makes available a huge abundance of accurate and orderly information with high speed of delivery to the public. 

Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi said that "Sharjah 24" includes many categories covering all fields including UAE category which deals with all news related to events and activities carried out by UAE President, rulers of the emirates, crown Princes, sheikhs, ministers and officials of the various government departments. 

A separate category covers Sharjah news. This category covers the news about the Ruler of Sharjah, Crown Prince, Ruler’s Deputies, senior officials. Moreover, this page covers all news, events and activities carried out by the various government departments, entities and authorities. 

He went on to explain that the site also includes categories associated with the Arab World news, latest world news, as well as economy, culture and art, local and international sports, health and family, specialised studies and researches as well as government correspondences. The site provides the readers with all what they aspire for and want to know about in one place with high credibility, accuracy and transparency. 

For his part, His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Media Center, pointed out that the Arabic and English versions of Sharjah 24, stimulate deep and useful reading through digital media, which have become in today’s world one of the most important sources of information for the public in all countries of the world. 

He added that the English version of “Sharjah 24" will be the voice of the emirate targeting the non-Arabic-speaking world. It is intended to cover the local economy, entertainment and political news, and opens up channels for further communication. 

He added that the Sharjah-based news website is established to serve as a reliable news reference and source for all news about the emirate of Sharjah, Arab World news and world news through providing the reader with true, authentic information with high reliability, objectivity, speed and transparency, substantiated by picture and video to deliver Sharjah’s message to the world. 

Allay added that the updating of the new app includes identifying most read news, users’ notifications and setting in addition to an easy accessible app front page. 

This application provides an easy browsing in both Arabic and English without the use of the internet. It supports participation through social media accounts, Allay added. 

For her part, Fatima Ibrahim, chief editor of Sharjah 24, said that since its launch of the website by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in February 2015, “Sharjah 24” has sought to translate His Highness’ vision for the site to be a reliable news reference that authenticates and substantiates all news about the emirate Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, all the Arab world and international news through the provision of highly credible, transparent and non-biased way with high objectivity.

She added that the website is run and operated by UAE young competencies with the help of other Arab professionals to deliver to the public a good variety of news and useful information.
