The fourth edition of Saudi Arabia’s Ithra Art Prize is due to take place in December and the jury for the event has been revealed. The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) has announced a panel of seven international art experts as the jury for the prize.

This year’s panel of juries include Abdullah K. Al-Turki, board member of the Ad-Diriyah Biennale Foundation, Dr. Ridha Moumni, historian of art and archaeology, Brahim Alaoui, former director of the museum of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris and Salwa Mikdadi, Director of Al-Mawrid Arab Center for the Study of Art (NYUAD).

The team will be joined by Amal Khalaf, curator, artist, and Director of Programs at Cubitt and Civic Curator at the Serpentine Galleries in London, Clare Davies, Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and Farah Abushullaih, Head of Museums and Exhibits at Ithra.

The jury will be responsible for evaluating submissions for the contemporary art prize, which is open to artists from or based in the 22 Arab League countries. The winner will receive up to $100,000 to create a unique world-class work of art.

The Ithra Art Prize is a creative platform that allows international audiences access to diverse Saudi art and culture whilst presenting their creativity. The artworks that win the contest will be unveiled at the inaugural Ad-Diriyah Biennale in Riyadh, the Kingdom’s first biennale, which will take place on December 7.

Individual artists and collectives have been invited to submit a proposal for the Ithra Art Prize by Aug. 13, 2021, winners of which will be announced on August 30, 2021. The event will be held under the curatorship of writer and critic Philip Tinari.
