The Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival to celebrate its 10th anniversary in the upcoming edition

The 10th Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival will take place from February 4 to March 31.

It is going to a milestone year for the Ras Al Khaimah Fine Arts Festival as the event is going to celebrate its 10th anniversary in the upcoming month, making it bigger and better.

Celebrating one decade of the festival, the event is going to take place from February 4 to March 31, 2022, which is going to take place at the historic site of Al Jazirah Al Hamra heritage village, along with satellite exhibitions at Jebel Jais and Open Park at Al Marjan Island.

The massive arts and culture event in the UAE is going to bring together more than 150 artists from at least 45 countries and will mark a number of new partnerships with local institutions.

The year is even more special for the Arts Festival as it coincides the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations and the theme for 2022 ‘The Journey’ will reflect this significant anniversary. Artists have been asked to consider the theme and they are also expected to showcase works that reflect ideas of ancestry, migration, national identity, and individual growth.

The festival will also include exhibitions of art, photography, and sculpture, as well as film screenings, workshops, guided tours and other events focused on creativity, throughout the emirate.

There will also be a launch a of the Curatorial Development Programme in collaboration with NYUAD Art Gallery, which seeks to bolster art education in the UAE. The programme comprises of selecting a young curator to undergo a four-month membership that will result in an exhibition at the festival.

Another highlight of the arts festival is an exhibition by Al Qasimi Foundation showcasing ‘Travel with Covid’ that will portray how the Covid-19 pandemic has affected lives around the world. Curated by Suqrat Bin Bisher, Azza Al Nuaimi and Ji Young Kim, the show will be on view at the AQF Villa surrounded by a speciality café, giving its visitors an immersive art experience.
