MASHABLE: Twitter confirmed to the press that it has been working on an Edit button since last year, but did not provide a timetable for when the feature might be made available to users.

This month, Twitter confirmed to the press that it has been working on an Edit button since last year, but did not provide a timetable for when the feature might be made available to users. Since Twitter is reportedly testing it internally, it appears that the feature will soon be available to all users.

Alessandro Paluzzi was able to see the Edit button's user interface thanks to his reverse engineering skills. On his Twitter account, he also shared a few images showing how users will be able to edit their tweets when the service launches.

Using the three-dot view at the top right corner of a tweet, you can now access the new Edit button, which is shown in the image above. It is possible to rework your tweets by clicking the Edit button and entering the draught mode.

To avoid abuse, Twitter may mark edited tweets as such and even display an edit history to keep users informed. Twitter is concerned that the feature may be misused, so this is a possibility.

As a test, Twitter Blue subscribers will be able to edit their tweets within a couple of months, before the feature is made available to all Twitter users.
