Mashable: The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has confirmed the official holiday

UAE has announced an official paid holiday for the private sector for the new year.

The announcement of the holiday is in accordance with the Cabinet decision on approved official holidays for both the government and private sectors.

On Tuesday, December 20, 2022, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) took to its official Twitter account and announced that January 1, 2023, will be an official paid holiday.

“The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced that Sunday, January 1, 2023, will be an official paid holiday in the UAE for all private sector employees,” the official announcement reads.

Residents of the United Arab Emirates will have multiple long breaks next year which may include a six-day break.

As per Khaleej Times, the post shared by the government shows the following as the full list of holidays for the upcoming year.

January 1: Gregorian New Year
Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3: Eid Al Fitr
Dhul Hijjah 9: Arafah Day
Dhul Hijjah 10-12: Eid Al Adha
July 21: Hijri New Year
September 29: Birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
December 2-3: UAE National Day
While some of the holidays mentioned in the above list are based on the Hijri Islamic calendar and their corresponding Gregorian dates may vary depending on moon-sighting.

The United Arab Emirates follows a unified list for the public and private sectors which ensures that the employees get an equal number of days off.

The residents of UAE are also in for four long weekends next year the first being Eid Al Fitr. Residents will most likely experience a six-day break during Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha.
