Mashable: Strict action will be taken on positive cases who don’t complete the isolation period

A top UAE official has said that there has been an increase in daily Covid-19 by 100 percent in a week.

As of June 13, daily infections have risen to more than 1,300 cases. Increases in hospitalisation rates are also seen.

At the beginning of this month, daily infections reached nearly 450 after reaching 300 in the month of April. Cases were highest in January this year with over 3000 daily infections.

As quoted by Khaleej Times, an official from the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) warned the residents who do not isolate themselves at home even after testing positive. The official said, “This threatens the safety of society as it causes the virus to spread.”

He continued, “Those who don’t complete their isolation period will be held legally accountable.”

In a media briefing that was held on Monday, the government spokesman said the authorities are keeping taps and have noted that some residents who have tested positive are not adhering to the Covid-19 safety measures.

A warning of a Dh 3,000 fine was issued for those violating the rules, this also includes not wearing masks indoors.

The spokesperson added, “Covid-19 is still around. We urge residents to follow all Covid rules, including masks in closed places, avoiding crowded spaces, and taking special care while traveling.”

The authorities have also decided to increase the inspections so as to ensure that the positive patients are wearing marks and following other rules in closed spaces.

The isolation period for Covid-19 positive patients is 10-days in Dubai.
