Streaming service 7TV, the JV between Discovery and ProSiebenSat.1, has appointed former Google executive, Alexandar Vassilev, as CEO.

Alexandar Vassilev was product manager for Google Search.

He will responsible for the strategic growth and development of the digital service which launched six months ago.

Speaking to BroadcastPro ME, in October 2017, Michael Lang President, DNI Digital & Eurosport Digital and CEO of MotorTrend had spoken of the critical nature of the role in defining the success of a streaming service.

On the new appointment, he said:  “Our ambition to build a world class platform is underscored with the hiring of Alexandar Vassilev and his digital pedigree in building world-class products, which will drive an aggressive consumer-first blueprint for our OTT business.”
