Abu Dhabi Media Company, ADMC, has signed an agreement of understanding and collaboration with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information, represented in the Television of Kuwait to facilitate the exchange of archiving material over the coming period, ADMC announced Sunday.
Immediate search for some material belonging to the Television of Kuwait at Abu Dhabi TV Archives will mark the launching point for the agreement. The Kuwaiti archiving material include a collection of Kuwaiti documentaries and TV serials and episodes dating back to1990s and even before along with other material.
"The agreement comes as part of the ADMC's keenness to strengthen bonds for strategic collaboration with different media institutions in the Arab world and meet public needs for edutainment in a fast-changing world," said Dr. Ali Bin Tamim, ADMC Director-General. He added that the move also fits within Abu Dhabi Media's sustained endeavours to create strategic media partnerships and blocs in the country and across the Arab region through ensuring an effective exchange of expertise and knowledge.
Abu Dhabi TV Network has one of the Arab world's largest TV libraries as it incorporates thousands of archiving material that document significant milestones and junctures in the history of the UAE and the Arab region at large since the 1950s in addition to myriad and rare Gulf TVdrama episodes and programmes.
Out of its staunch belief in the paramount historical importance of such material, ADMC has over the recent years launched a digitising revolution to transfer thousands of hours of crumbling video footage of the emirate's recent history into digital formats, investing million of dirhams on the leading project in collaboration with a leading company operating in areas of footage correction, editing and updating.
