In the next edition of CarPlay, users will be able to manage the radio, alter the climate controls, and more directly within CarPlay, thanks to a better connection with a vehicle's hardware.

Among other things, Apple revealed today at WWDC 2022 that the "next iteration" of CarPlay would allow multiple screens in a vehicle and have built-in climate controls for changing the A/C or heat within the CarPlay interface.

Several major automakers, including Ford, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Infiniti, Honda and Acura, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Audi have committed to supporting the updated CarPlay experience by the end of 2023. More details on the improved CarPlay experience will be released in the future, according to Apple

In the next edition of CarPlay, users will be able to manage the radio, alter the climate controls, and more directly within CarPlay, thanks to a better connection with a vehicle's hardware. Additionally, the speedometer, gasoline level, temperature, and other information will be displayed on the instrument cluster with the latest version of CarPlay, according to Apple.

With CarPlay, customers may customize their driving experience by selecting multiple gauge cluster styles, and widgets will display at a glance whether and music information right on the dashboard of their vehicle.

A preview of what the Apple Car may look like is likely to be reflected in this new experience, which is closely related to the car's hardware. This Apple car isn't expected to be released in the near future, according to the latest rumors. It's reasonable to infer, though, that the user-facing interface is already in the works. It might be using CarPlay to evaluate the experience before deploying it in its own vehicle.

In addition to themes, the new CarPlay experience now enables layouts, colors, and more. It also connects with the associated iPhone in a safe and confidential manner to present essential information while driving. The speed and temperature of the vehicle are two examples of this.

Since its debut in 2014, Apple's CarPlay in-vehicle software platform has allowed users to connect their iPhones to their car's infotainment system through a Lightning connection or wirelessly in cars that support CarPlay.
