The survey by a recruitment firm has also found that many feel remote working professionals will get benefits in the future.

Even in a connected world, remote working was considered as an option for a large number of people who could do their job from home, but it became mainstream when firms had to shut down offices during the pandemic. The fast-paced shift towards video-conferencing and virtual meetings on a massive scale, demonstrated the capacity of technology to enhance productivity by cutting down the time taken for the daily commute, and turning living rooms into workplaces for higher efficiency.

Over the past couple of years countries including the UAE have also rolled out remote working visas, which are meant to attract people working for firms located elsewhere, to benefit from high-speed connectivity in a relatively safer space during the pandemic. The quick transition driven by digital services, has also triggered a major shift in attitudes, leading to a scenario where 85% job seekers in the UAE feel remote working is adequate for them to perform their roles.

According to a survey conducted by a recruitment firm, as many as 21% of professionals applying for work have also relocated due to the pandemic, and 41% didn't feel salaries were connected to remote work. Speaking of benefits for employees in the fast-changing world, more than 30% have predicted that those working from home will be offered internet connections and electricity subsidies in the near future.

But even with the option to work from any place across the globe with equal efficiency, there are 30% Emiratis who said that they have no intentions of moving in the foreseeable future. As for their preferences, more than half of those surveyed, admitted that initiatives for mental health, will be a deciding factor when it comes to deciding on an organisation to work for.

Talking about working conditions, 50% of the respondents sought better communication with management for efficient planning of tasks. Almost the same number of applicants also want companies to have more flexible work arrangements.
