Mashable: Donations will go to ‘Bill & Melinda Gates’ non-profit organization
Bill Gates confirms his plan on donating all his wealth to his non-profit organization.
Microsoft Corporation’s co-founder Bill Gates has revealed his future plans.
Bill Gates confirmed that he will be donating $20 billion to the charitable organization which is run by him and his ex-wife Melinda French Gates.
Some reasons behind the donations include pandemic prevention, the Ukraine war, and climate adaptation. The donations are done in order to boot the foundation's annual distributions.
This donation will eventually cross Bill Gates’ name from the world’s billionaires list.
Bill Gates, along with his wife started the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) in the year 2000. The foundation on its website defines itself as, “fighting poverty, disease, and inequality around the world.”
On July 13, Bill Gates through his blog, Gates notes shared, “As I look to the future, my plan is to give all my wealth to the foundation other than what I spend on myself and my family. I do some giving and investing in U.S. health care issues, including Alzheimer’s outside the foundation.”
I have an obligation to return my resources to society in ways that have the greatest impact for reducing suffering and improving lives. And I hope others in positions of great wealth and privilege will step up in this moment too.

He continued, “I will move down and eventually off of the list of the world’s richest people. My giving money is not a sacrifice at all. I feel privileged to be involved in tackling these great challenges, I enjoy the work, and believe I have an obligation to return my resources to society in ways that have the greatest impact for improving lives.”
Talking about the donations his foundation received from Warren Buffett, he wrote, “ Although it is named the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, basically half of our resources to date have to come from Warren Buffett’s gifts.”
Although the foundation bears our names, basically half our resources have come from Warren Buffett. His incredible generosity is a huge reason why the foundation has been able to be so ambitious. I can never adequately express how much I appreciate his friendship and guidance. pic.twitter.com/at7MvJKxQv
