Qatar is racing ahead towards creating an ecosystem where residents will be able to shift gears for a futuristic lifestyle with ease. The country which is laying the groundwork for high-tech living in the capital Doha's downtown area, also has eyes on promoting smart mobility, for commuters as well as private vehicle owners.

Among Qatar's Middle Eastern neighbours, Saudi Arabia has accelerated its journey towards the future by funding smart car firm Lucid, and UAE has started testing self driving cabs. To make sure that Qataris keep up with developments in the region, Chinese carmaker Changan has driven into the country with its feature-heavy smart wagon.

The CS75 Plus is an SUV which packs digital offerings in a sleek and compact exterior, and a 12-inch LCD touch screen to navigate the connected vehicle's system stands out at first glance. In addition to this the car has a tire pressure monitor and a 360 degree camera to get a comprehensive view of the road.

An electric sun-roof alongside a seat that can be tweaked six ways and smart ventilation, adds to the luxury quotient of the SUV. As for safety, an adaptive cruise control system automatically adjusts the speed to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and AI also warns motorists when they drift away from the lane.

The future-ready wagon is prepared for the age of contactless operations with key-less access and touch-free ignition integrated into its mechanism. To increase convenience after a day-long commute, the CS75 Plus has rear cameras with sensors, paired with electronic parking brakes.

Created by China's state-owned vehicle brand and hailed as one of the best in the country this SUV will hit Qatari roads thanks to local firm Elaf Motors.

Among other global brands bringing smart mobility to the gulf, American carmaker General Motors has inked a pact with Dubai police to equip its cars with sensors, that alert authorities about road accidents.
