Created thanks to a collaboration between global tech major Ericsson and the road transport authority (RTA) in Dubai, the platform will gather info on the usage of public transport in the city. Under the partnership, Ericsson will enhance ops for the RTA via advanced analytics, fleet management and a connected cloud to watch over vehicles.

This cloud service which allows remote fleet management from a single platform on a global scale, will also benefit businesses offering luxury vehicles on rent across the UAE. Information flowing through this mechanism will be secure, and RTA will be able to control existing public transport, while it uses the data to create better strategies for expansion.

Thanks to monitoring mechanisms in place across Dubai, the RTA is already able to respond to road accidents faster, and control centres have been instrumental in reducing congestion. Speaking of deals, Dubai police has also entered a partnership with General Motors to embed sensors on vehicles, which notifies rescue teams about a car crash, in order to avoid casualties.
