Footballer Sofyan Amrabat broke his fast during a recent match after a teammate’s fake injury.
In San Siro, Milan, Fiorentina saw a 1-0 victory against Inter Milan in their recent Serie A match.
As per Khaleej Times, Fiorentina’s Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat was caught on TV cameras eating a banana and drinking water.
The Moroccan player was spotted on the sideline breaking his Ramadan fast while his teammate Luca Ranieri took the help of the medics.
As the moment was caught on camera during the Serie A match on Saturday, some fans were convinced Ranieri faked his injury to let his Muslim teammate eat a little something to break his fast.
Like millions of Muslims, several athletes and players fast and abstain from eating and drinking from dusk to dawn during the holy month of Ramadan. Moroccan football player Sofyan Amrabat is also observing the Ramadan fast.
Fiorentina registered a 1-0 win all thanks to a solitary goal from Giacomo Bonaventura.
During extra time, Luca Ranieri reportedly sat on the ground and asked the medical staff to treat him.
Despite only a few minutes left in the match, the Moroccan player took advantage of the moment and rushed to the touchline where he reportedly broke his fast.
