Mashable: This timelapse video of Dubai’s record-breaking rainstorm amazes the internet
In a recent turn of events, the highly advanced infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates battled a record-breaking rainstorm which caused havoc across the Middle Eastern country.
This week, the UAE was hit with the heaviest rainfall, the country had seen in the past 75 years. The unprecedented weather caused chaos across all seven Emirates, igniting worry about the sudden change in climate.
As the severe weather affected the daily lives of the residents, causing deaths and personal losses, UAE’s state-run WAM news agency labeled the unlikely rains and storms as “a historic weather event”.
While several rescue videos and funny reels are coming from the Emirates on social media, a timelapse video of the hazardous thunderstorm has amazed the internet. Take a look:

The unprecedented weather event brought severe thunderstorms, rainfall, hailstorms, and lightning. It not only flooded the streets of the United Arab Emirates halting normal activities, but also affected air travel. For safety, the Emirates ordered the closing of offices as well as schools for days.
The storm not only hit the United Arab Emirates but Oman as well. UAE’s Al Ain city bordering Oman reportedly experienced the highest rainfall. It was the largest ever in 24 hours since records shown in 1949.
According to the Khaleej Times, the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather forecast for April 23, 2024. The forecasts indicate partly cloudy conditions with occasional cloud cover. NCM also warned against the possibility of light to moderate rainfall.
