Mashable: Elon Musk is confident that Neuralink's brain chips will eventually take the place of phones. He recently commented on a post on X, stating, "There will come a time when phones are no longer needed, only Neuralinks."

It is worth mentioning that he serves as the CEO of Neuralink, a company dedicated to advancing brain chip technology. Additionally, Neuralink is currently conducting its first human trials with a 29-year-old individual named Noland Arbaugh.

This response was written in reference to an AI-generated image of Musk, where he is seen holding a phone with a neural network design on his forehead.

Would you install a Neuralink interface on your brain to allow you to control your new X phone by thinking? pic.twitter.com/gFN2BfN4Ea — Not Elon Musk (@iamnot_elon) June 16, 2024

The purpose of the image was to inquire whether individuals would be willing to install a Neuralink interface in their brains to control their devices through thoughts. The caption accompanying the picture asked, "Would you install a Neuralink interface on your brain to enable control of your new X phone through thoughts?"

Multiple users on X platform reacted to Musk's statement. One individual expressed, "Elon, I admire you greatly, but I absolutely refuse to implant anything in my brain. That's a definite rejection from me, my friend." Meanwhile, another user simply remarked, "That's going to be an extraordinary experience."

Arbaugh, the initial human participant of Neuralink, suffered paralysis from the shoulders down due to an accident eight years ago. On January 28, he underwent a brain surgery and is currently displaying encouraging signs of recuperation. Notably, he has surpassed the 100-day milestone, prompting Neuralink to disclose comprehensive progress in a recent blogpost.

Love you Elon. But brother no way in hell am I implanting something in my head. That’s a hard no for me bro. — Jay (@jolivieri89) June 17, 2024

In March, a video was live-streamed by Neuralink to showcase Arbaugh's progress. He also recounted how Neuralink has enhanced his ability to participate in activities he enjoys, such as playing chess.

"It's amazing, truly remarkable. I feel fortunate to be involved in this. Every day, I am gaining new knowledge. Words cannot express how incredible it is to have this capability," he expressed in the video. Recently, Musk made an announcement that Neuralink is now accepting applications for a second participant.

He stated, "Neuralink is now open to applications for the second participant. This is our Telepathy cybernetic brain implant that enables you to control your phone and computer simply by thinking."
