Mashable: Even though Twitter has been in disarray since Elon Musk closed on his $44 billion purchase of the firm, Musk claims that more people are signing up for an account than ever before.

Use of Twitter is "at an all-time high haha," Musk said on Twitter on Monday, adding that he "hopes the servers don't melt."

Monday, Insider reported that research firm Apptopia had shown that both the number of people downloading the Twitter app and the number of people using it on a regular basis had increased significantly after Musk had assumed control of the company.

Per the FT, the social media platform saw a 20% increase in daily monetizable users last week. Revenue-generating Twitter users increased by 16.6 percent year over year to 237.8 million in Q2 2022.

According to an email obtained by the FT, "Twitter's largest market, the US, is growing even more swiftly."

Unfortunately, Twitter hasn't had anything but bad luck. Advertisers are leaving, and the corporation has laid off thousands of workers. Some sponsors have pulled their ads from the site out of fear for Twitter under its new leadership and the commotion surrounding Musk's takeover.

In a post published on Thursday, MIT Technology Review cited a Bot Sentinel study, an independent platform that monitors disinformation and targeted abuse on Twitter, as evidence that more than 1.3 million users had abandoned Twitter as a result of Musk's acquisition.

Some of them, including well-known names like Shonda Rhimes and Sara Bareilles, left Twitter voluntarily, while others had their accounts canceled or suspended. Twitter accounts belonging to actresses and other celebrities who had previously changed their names to "Elon Musk" have been among those suspended or deleted.

Musk announced on Monday that he will permanently suspend "any Twitter accounts participating in impersonation without clearly mentioning 'parody.'"
