FIFA 23's cover stars have been revealed by EA, and the Ultimate Edition of the game will feature a female player for the first time. Chelsea's Sam Kerr and Paris Saint Germain's Mbappé share the cover of the game. This is Mbappé's third consecutive year on the FIFA cover.

FIFA's long-running football game, EA Sports, has finally included a female cover player for the first time in its international release with Chelsea and Australia's women's teams and one of the top female players in the world, Miranda Kerr.

The fact that Kerr appears on the FIFA 23 cover wearing a Chelsea jersey means that the Women's Super League, the top level of professional women's soccer in England, is expected to make its debut in the FIFA series this year, according to Eurogamer.

You can already play as female football players in the FIFA series, although up until now only with women's international teams in kick-off mode, the Volta mode in the FIFA Street style, and Pro Clubs.

FIFA 16 marked the first time that EA featured women on the cover of one of its soccer games. Christine Sinclair, Steph Catley, and Alex Morgan all appeared on the cover of Australian, American, and Canadian editions. As in previous editions, they shared the cover with Lionel Messi.

When the first trailer for FIFA 23 goes up at 12:00 ET on Wednesday, EA will disclose a lot more about the game. You can watch the video below once it goes live. This year's EA soccer game will be the last one to use the FIFA logo in the title. EA Sports FC will be the new name of the series next year, following a tumultuous split from FIFA.
