Mashable: Digital platform FIFA+ will host the collectibles.

FIFA is going to start a new NFT (non-fungible token) collection later in September, before the World Cup in Qatar.

FIFA has announced that the 'FIFA+ Collect' NFT, which will be powered by AlGorand Blockchain—FIFA's official blockchain platform, will allow fans across the world to purchase authentic digital collectibles (ranging "from the greatest game moments to the most iconic FIFA World Cup and FIFA Women's World Cup art and images") for a low price.

According to FIFA's chief commercial officer, Romy Gai, "Fandom is changing and football fans throughout the world connect with the game in new and interesting ways."

Gai said that the development "democratizes the chance to own a part of the FIFA World Cup" by making artifacts available to fans. Fans all across the world may interact with their favorite players, moments, and more on new platforms, much like they do with sports memorabilia and stickers.

Soon, FIFA+ Collect will show off several starter collections and give details about upcoming limited-edition and exclusive items.

The digital platform FIFA+ will host the collectibles. "FIFA+ Collect" will be available "across all online and mobile platforms" and in "three language versions" (English, French, and Spanish) when it first comes out, with "many other languages" promised later.

According to Sean Ford, interim CEO of AlGorand, "FIFA's dedication to bridging to Web3, facilitated by Algorand, is a tribute to their inventive spirit and ambition to directly and seamlessly communicate with football fans around the world."
