On Thursday, Qatar announced that covid-19 vaccinations are not mandatory for the football fans who are attending the FIFA World Cup in the Gulf state.
Although all visitors who are aged over six years will have to produce a negative Covid-19 test report before taking flights to Qatar.
The football tournament is scheduled to begin on November 20, 2022, and will end on December 18, 2022.
On Thursday, September 29, 2022, FIFA World Cup released an official Covid-19 travel and return policy for all the international fans attending this year's FIFA World Cup tournament.
Regardless of their coronavirus vaccine status, the international Hayya Card holders attending the World Cup between November 20 and December 18, must follow the COVID-19 testing regulations.
The visitors who are aged six or over are required to show an official negative PCR test result that is taken no more than 48 hours before the departure time. Fans can also go for a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) with negative results no more than 24 hours before the departure time.
The test result has to be submitted at the arriving airport’s check-in counter and the test results are only valid from the medical centers. RAT self-tests will not be valid.
Travelers who test positive for COVID-19 while in the Gulf state will be required to isolate themselves in accordance with the Ministry of Public Health guidelines.
Fans aged 18 and more who are visiting Qatar are required to download and install the EHTERAZ application on their mobile phones on arrival.
A green EHTERAZ status which shows the user does not have a confirmed case of COVID-19 is required for fans to enter any public closed indoor spaces.
