Mashable: Here is a collection of the funniest memes we could find online.

Some of us obviously love finding the funny side of things. Moreover, the quadrennial extravaganza is the ideal breeding ground for memes.

Here is a collection of the funniest memes we could find online.

1.‘I’m going to tell Piers Morgan’

Cristiano Ronaldo was already in the news before the FIFA World Cup even started.

The Portuguese legend had attacked Manchester United, the team he formerly played for, in an explosive interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan. He was blunt in his criticism of the Old Trafford facilities and coach Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils eventually decided to cut ties with their forward.

Ronaldo, who entered his first World Cup as a free agent, attracted trolls and memes, primarily from enraged Manchester United fans.

When Ronaldo insisted that he had the final touch on the ball in a goal that was ultimately given to teammate Bruno Fernandes, the meme came to life even more.

2. ‘Do you need an appointment?’

Morgan was the one who cheered the loudest after Ronaldo's "Hair of God" goal against Uruguay, as internet users began to refer to it after the striker claimed to have headed the ball in when there was actually no touch, as confirmed by the official ball manufacturer Adidas.

The British multinational optical retail giant Specsavers came up with a witty one-liner as a response, and it received a lot of attention.

It was Bruno, do you need an appointment?

3. Morocco’s Goalkeeper, Bono the Numero Uno!

In the Round of 16, Yassine Bounou of Morocco, also known as "Bono," had a minor advantage over Unai Simon of Spain going into the penalty shootout. Comparisons to the legendary Gianluigi Buffon were unavoidably made with a performance of this caliber.

4. Japan took L's advice from Death Note to the letter- “In all things, one cannot win with defence alone. To win, you must attack.”

Move over from Light Yagami..... It appears that before the World Cup, Japan's head coach Hajime Moriyasu found the Death Note.

He was also joined by Ryuk, the shinigami, as suggested by memes.

5. Giroud-Mbappe memes

One who excelled at it. What about our very own Giroud-Mbappe or Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams?

6. Another year with the Messiah guiding the way...

Messi is returning to focus on winning the greatest trophy in international football, the only one lacking from his magnificent trophy case, despite having won the Copa America this time.
