Being among the first countries to relax restrictions and welcome visitors back after the pandemic, the Emirates looks all set to host more events that showcase innovation after Gitex. The country which recently set the stage for people to physically visit an art fest, is on track for welcoming millions for Dubai Expo thanks to a hybrid ecosystem.

Sustainability and health-tech have become the centre of attention when it comes to technology being developed for a green future, in the post-covid age. To use the rising tech hub of the Middle East as a platform for amplifying awareness about clean energy and responsible consumption, Abu Dhabi has been chosen as the location for the World Future Energy Summit in 2022.

The first edition of the event after lockdowns brought the world to a screeching halt, will attract global businesses which are inventing sustainable products. Exhibitions to highlight clean energy, ecowaste management, water conservation and solar power, will be organised in the Emirati capital in mid-January next year.

This won't be a first for Abu Dhabi, which has hosted 34,000 visitors from 125 countries for more than 800 exhibitions, during an earlier edition of the tech expo. Other than gadgets and digital platforms to support eco-friendly development, startups engaged in sustainable projects will also be able to interact with investors, through the Climate Innovations Exchange.

At a time when cutting emissions and generating green alternatives is a priority for both governments as well as firms, the event in Abu Dhabi is in line with Emirati clean energy ambitions. When forecasts suggest that electricity produced via renewable sources will be the most valuable energy asset by 2050, a country with the world's largest solar park is a natural choice to host a futuristic energy summit.

Keeping up with its neighbouring Emirate Dubai's sustainability push, Abu Dhabi has also initiated projects for generation of green and blue hydrogen, for domestic needs as well as exports.
