Mashable: RCS is intended to replace SMS as the communications standard.

Today, the Android team at Google unveiled a new website titled "Get the Message" that urges Apple to embrace Rich Communication Services or RCS for the Messages app. Google has been pressuring Apple to embrace RCS for months, but Apple has yet to respond.

The "Get the Message" website intends to address the "green/blue bubbles" issue between iPhone and Android users as well as problems in cross-platform messaging such as low-quality photos and videos, issues with group chat, end-to-end encryption, read receipts, and typing indicators, indicating that these problems could be resolved if Apple adopted RCS. It is time for Apple to improve messaging, the website states.

According to the website, iPhones degrade Android users' photos and videos, prevent people from leaving group chats with Android users, prevent iPhone users from texting Android phones over WiFi, make Android users' messages difficult to read and leave messages between iOS and Android users unencrypted. The site urges users to assist Apple in spreading its message through tweets and features news items concerning Android/ iPhone interactions.

In Addition to Android major other OEMs like Motorola also joined the club, and further retweeted and quoted the campaign on Twitter.

In addition to the website, the Android team has also published a blog post that outlines how Rich Communication Services works and why iPhone and Android users may sometimes encounter difficulties during text chats. The blog post states that group chats "feel obsolete" since iPhones continue to utilize SMS and MMS for communication.

According to Google's blog post, RCS may "connect all smartphone users" and deliver a "secure, contemporary messaging experience" to everyone. All of Google's previous efforts to convince Apple to accept RCS have failed, as seen by this article.

Google and all major carriers have migrated to RCS by mid-2021, but Google has been unable to persuade Apple to embrace the standard. Hiroshi Lockheimer, the senior vice president of Android, has been tweeting about RCS and Apple's lack of support for months, and Google has even produced snarky explanatory films.
