Android users using the Google TV app will be able to cast content from a range of different streaming providers to their TV via a central casting button.
Google TV's goal is to streamline the process of watching your favorite shows online by putting everything in one convenient location. The Google TV app now expands on this concept by allowing users to cast content from a variety of streaming sources using a single app.
Android users using the Google TV app will be able to cast content from a range of different streaming providers to their TV via a central casting button. As shown in the video below, this functionality allows users to cast material from the Google TV app to their Chromecast, even if that content is only available through a single streaming provider.
Specifically, Peacock's Bel-Air relaunch is being used as an example. Casting an episode to a TV can be done by clicking a button on the Google TV app's entry for the show. That happens right away after you press that button. Peacock doesn't open on your phone, and the TV immediately starts playing. When using Android TV OS, it's possible that Cast Connect will be used to make the experience more fluid. Even in Google's app, you may still cast spells.
Of course, this is Google's aim, but there are still some questions. This level of integration isn't supported by Google's app store, so we don't know which apps will or won't be able to take advantage of it. Although it's intriguing and maybe useful, it's still an interesting feature.
As soon as "later in 2022," Google is expected to disclose which apps are supported by its extended casting capability for Google TV.
