Mashable: Meta said in a filing that the additional limit was acceptable and essential in light of the expenditures of Zuckerberg's current comprehensive security policy.
CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg and his family have had their security budget boosted, a move that was deemed "appropriate and necessary" by Meta Platforms. On Wednesday, the business boosted Zuckerberg's security pay by $4 million, bringing the total to $14 million.
Meta said in a filing that the additional limit was acceptable and essential in light of the expenditures of Zuckerberg's current comprehensive security policy.
This comes after Facebook and Instagram's parent company, which Zuckerberg has dubbed the "Year of Efficiency," laid off hundreds of employees and drastically reduced expenditure. For several of the teams, it seems that the company has yet to disclose its 2023 budgets, despite this information typically being available at the start of the year. Some people have started to wonder whether this foretells further layoffs. Meta terminated 11,000 workers, or nearly 13% of its worldwide workforce, in November of last year. In an earnings call, Zuckerberg declared 2023 the "year of efficiency."
With a net worth of over $63 billion, Zuckerberg is now placed #16 on Forbes's Live Billionaires list. In 2021, he took home almost $27 million in pay. The amount of money he will made in 2022 is still unknown.
Because they and their families are often targets of harassment and violence from both the paparazzi and hostile fans, many high-profile business leaders choose to travel with a security. Famous billionaires including Jeff Bezos, Marc Benioff, Larry Ellison, and Elon Musk have said that their company's security measures cost them millions of dollars. However, Zuckerberg's costs are the most expensive.
