Mashable: The tech industry is full of major players preparing to release AR and VR glasses and headsets in the near future, and Meta is just one of them.

Even though the company was feeling good because the Oculus Quest 2 did so well, the Meta Quest Pro didn't do as well. However, a new report claims that the company's revised VR plans don't just involve cancellations, as a leaked presentation of the company's roadmap given to an employee of Meta's Reality Labs division outlines not only the company's plans for its Quest 3 headset (codenamed Stinson) but also a tease of what's coming after that headset. Given the fact that we cannot unsee that Facebook literally strategized its restructuring to Meta as a new company focused on Metaverse, a virtual realm of possibilities,

Apparently, Meta's latest goal for creating AR and VR was announced to staff on Tuesday. The first fully functional AR glasses are on the company's launch schedule. As reported by The Verge, testing can begin with employees in 2024, and a public release is scheduled for 2027.

In 2021, Meta collaborated with Luxottica to release AR-enabled Ray-Ban sunglasses. The glasses could make and receive phone calls, take pictures and videos, and play music. The tech giant will introduce two new iterations of that eyewear in the fall of 2023 and 2025, with the first one possibly going by the name Ray-Ban Stories 2. According to The Verge, the business also talked about the other augmented reality and virtual reality devices it plans to release before the release of its full-fledged augmented reality spectacles.

Later this year, you'll also be able to purchase the Quest 3 headset, which has been promised to be twice as lightweight and powerful as its predecessor. More than 40 new mixed-reality experiences, apps, and games are also slated to be a part of it. This comes after Meta said it would stop taking care of the Quest 1, its first-generation VR headset.

Meta also wants to come out with a virtual reality headset called "Ventura" in 2024. The headset, which is a likely competitor to Apple’s upcoming cheaper mixed-reality headset, "will be sold at a competitive price point in the VR consumer market," according to the company.

The news source says that "Innovation," a newer, more expensive version of augmented reality glasses, has more advanced technology and can project "high-quality holograms of avatars onto the real world."

Years of work have gone into what is known as "Project Nazaré." Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, thinks that their augmented reality glasses will be the holy grail when compared to the offerings from Apple and Google.

The tech industry is full of major players preparing to release AR and VR glasses and headsets in the near future, and Meta is just one of them. Many anticipate that Apple will finally unveil its much anticipated mixed reality headset at this year's WWDC in June. There may be two 4K screens and input without a controller included in the $3,000 price tag. A cheaper version that more people can afford is reportedly in the works at Apple.
