The library is located in Al Jaddaf on Dubai Creek
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is located on the banks of Dubai Creek in Al Jaddaf. The library has been shaped like a bookstand to hold the Quran.
The construction of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library was started in the year 2016 and it is built over 54,000 square meters. The library contains seven thematic sections that are spread across many levels.
The library will have a large courtyard with greenery and a 550-capacity indoor theatre and an outdoor amphitheater.
The Al Jaddaf Metro station is 2.5 km away from the library so keeping accessibility in mind, there will be a shuffle service provided from the library. The library visitors will have access to pick up and drop off service which will be done using public transport.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library will hold around a million multi-lingual physical and digital titles. The library will also house the first edition by authors including William Shakespeare and French playwright Moliere. In addition, there will be a Treasures exhibition.
For UAE residents, a membership scheme will be there to borrow books.
Also, the library will have special sections for children, adults, science and periodicals, geography, special collections, media, and visual arts.
In an interview with the National News, Isabel Abulhoul the board member and chief executive of the Emirates Literature Foundation said, “We cannot wait to have some of our literary events of the highest caliber in this library.”
