The service is currently only available on Android and doesn’t seem to be coming to other platforms anytime soon.

Netflix sees gaming as the future of entertainment.

Therefore, the company announced its interest in expanding to the gaming market earlier this year. However, unlike tech giants such as Nvidia, Google and Microsoft, Netflix isn’t offering its user a game streaming platform.

Instead, Netflix is going on an entirely different path: offering its subscribers free-to-play mobiles games, that they can download onto their devices.

Rather than streaming games from the cloud, users can just download these games from the Google Play Store on a compatible Android device. Netflix initially rolled out the “service” in Poland back in July as part of a beta program. Now, the company says it is ready for a wider global rollout.

“Whether you’re craving a casual game you can start from scratch or an immersive experience that lets you dig deeper into your favourite stories, we want to begin to build a library of games that offers something for everyone,” the company said in a blog post.

The feature is still rolling out to users, and a new “games tab” on the Netflix app, whenever the feature is available.

Currently, Netflix subscribers worldwide can play five mobile games: The Game, Stranger Things: 1984, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Shooting Hoops, Card Blast and Teeter Up.

The above games are available to all subscribers regardless of their plans, contain no additional fees, in-app purchases or advertisements. Some of these games are even available for offline play.

However, Netflix subscribers without an Android device will not be able to take advantage of the service, as the service doesn’t seem to be coming to other platforms anytime soon (Apple doesn’t allow any game-streaming service, on the iOS app store), while Netflix is focussed on mobile games only for now.
