Mashable: Roose's remarkable journey in slacklining began when he was just eighteen years old.
In a breathtaking display of skill and bravery, renowned Red Bull athlete Jaan Roose has recently set a new world record for the longest LED slackline walk in Qatar. The thirty-one-year-old Estonian native accomplished this feat despite rough weather conditions, walking a staggering 185 meters above the ground.
Roose, a three-time Slackline World Champion, tackled the challenging walk between the crescent-shaped Katara Towers, nestled in the picturesque Lusail Marina, home to the Raffles and Fairmont Doha hotels. With nerves of steel, he ventured across a line that was just 2.5 cm wide, covering a remarkable distance of 150 meters.
Dubbed 'Sparkline', the daring endeavor was made possible through a partnership with Qatar Tourism. Roose revealed that when he first laid eyes on the iconic towers, he knew he had to take on this extraordinary building. The adrenaline-fueled adventure marked his highest urban walk to date.
As seen in a video documenting the thrilling stunt, Roose expressed his determination to conquer challenges and push himself to new heights as an athlete. The difficult terrain made this line his toughest endeavor yet, and he proudly emerged victorious, defying the odds.
The LED lights that adorned the slackline added to the difficulty of the walk, altering how the line interacted with Roose's body weight. Describing the experience, he likened it to skateboarding on a heavy tree trunk rather than a light board.
Roose's remarkable journey in slacklining began when he was just eighteen years old, and since then, he has continuously pushed the boundaries of what's possible in the sport. He has taken on numerous extraordinary challenges, including a 100-meter acrobatic performance in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2021. The following year, he achieved yet another milestone by conquering a 500-meter slackline between two mountains in Kazakhstan.
