Some Al-Hilal recently ignited the famous Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s age-old rivalry with a banner of the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner during yesterday’s Al-Nassr vs Al-Akhdoud match.

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, the Portuguese talisman Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi club Al Nassr registered a 3-2 victory against Al-Akhdoud at Prince Hathloul bin Abdulaziz Sports City Stadium.

Although both sides fought well, Marcelo Brozovic’s late stoppage-time goal helped Al Nassr to win and take a lead after the two-goal tie.

While the fiery match brought its own thrill, the internet caught some Al-Hilal fans displaying a Lionel Messi banner to apparently troll Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo during the match. Take a look:

“The best always and forever,” reads the banner with a picture of Lionel Messi holding his team Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup trophy after the finals in the Gulf nation Qatar.

The pic is going viral on the microblogging platform X/ Twitter, with Messi fans praising the move.

However, this is not the first time that Ronaldo or Messi has faced a situation like this. There have been multiple incidents of fans chanting their name while the other is playing on the football pitch.

During the game, the Portuguese player was seen in sensational form as he fired his 48th goal of the ongoing football season.
