The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been on the development front and the major focus lies on boosting the tourism sector of the region. Saudi Arabia is already developing its tourism industry in line with Vision 2030 goals to build a thriving society and diversified economy.
The kingdom has now been focusing on tourism’s contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. With keeping this thought in line, the region is also spreading its branches to other countries to advance its plans by opening tourist agencies in various countries of the world.
In order to attract travellers from all over the world, Saudi Arabia is preparing to open multiple tourist agencies around the world. It has already opened offices in the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia and now the focus lies in opening agencies, from China to North America through India, France, South Korea, Italy, the Nordic countries, Eastern Europe, Japan, Switzerland or Austria.
The kingdom has targeted feeder markets that will help to boost the region’s tourism. Talking about it, the director-general of the Saudi Tourism Authority, Fahd Hamidaddin said, “We have identified 15 targeted feeder markets and plan to open offices this year to serve them. Three offices have already been opened in the UK, Germany and Russia.”
Previously, Saudi Arabia shared its vision for the future of tourism with an aim to grow tourism from 3 per cent to 10 per cent of Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product and to increase visitor numbers from 18 million a year to 100 million by 2030.
This will help protect the economic, environmental and social well-being of the local communities affected by tourism.O
