Sony has just introduced a professional drone dubbed the Airpeak S1, which the Japanese company claims to be the world's smallest drone that can move around with a full-size mirrorless Alpha camera onboard.
The drone features a proprietary motor and a 17" propeller for stable flight even during windy conditions. Sony claims that the drone features a lightweight yet sturdy body. The Airpeak is capable of a maximum speed of 55 miles per hour (90km/h) and can withstand wind speeds of up to an impressive 44.7mph.
It uses image sensors, Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), a barometric pressure sensor, and infrared ranging — all in tandem to optimize the flight path. There's also an electrical Speed Controller (ESC) built-in for prime manoeuvrability and an obstacle detection system to ensure the drone doesn't crash to an object when its a little of control.
The Airpeak S1 is compatible with Sony's Alpha 7S series, Alpha 7R series, and therefore the Alpha 9 series. The newest Alpha 1 is capable of shooting footage in 8k and is additionally compatible with this drone.
Sony's Airpeak Base web application enables users to make flight plans and check the vitals of the drone before subsequent flight. Sony claims that it's possible to form the drone fly along a predetermined route without real-time input. Customers can use the Android and iOS companion app to trace the drone, check battery status, and even access gimbal settings. The drone offers a dual operation mode that permits one user to regulate the drone while the opposite operates the camera.
The Airpeak S1 drone is priced at $9,000 (approximately INR 6,57,998) and can ship to customers within the fall of 2021. The retail package includes a further set of propellers. However, users will need to purchase a gimbal separately. As per Sony, the drone is formed in Japan and comes with an Airpeak Protect Plan, which covers accidental damage.
